The Coco Lee Story
CoCo Lee was  born in Hong Kong, raised in San Francisco, and moved to Taiwan at age 19 to pursue a singing career after winning second place in a Hong Kong Talent show. Although she was second runner up in the talent show, she was offered a record deal from a small record company after singing Whitney Houston's," Run to You". She was known for her western influenced dancing and singing, unique talent and singing range compared to other Chinese mainstream singers. Her mother,  had a strong influence on Coco Lee, and helped her to transition to Sony Records in 1996.

Her song "Do You Want My Love" reached No. 4 on Billboard's Hot Dance Breakouts chart in 1999, making her the first Chinese singer to break into the US market. Lee was nominated for an Academy Award for "A Love Before Time" from the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). She also voiced the Mandarin version of Mulan in Disney's animated film.

During her life-time she had sold out concerts throughout Asia, and produced a total of 18 studio albums, 2 concert albums, and 5 compilation albums. CoCo Lee sadly died by suicide due to depression at age 48 on July 5, 2023. The feature film captures Coco's energy, rise to fame from San Francisco's  harsh Tenderloin district, to her rising success in Taiwan/Asia. It's a story that inspires young adults and alike to reach for their dreams and aim for the stars.
